Ada Lovelace Day Wikipedia Edit-a-thon: Focusing on Underrepresented Groups in STEM

Wednesday, October 14, 2026 from 4:30-6:00pm | Bertrand Library Lab, room 025

During this event, we’ll celebrate Ada Lovelace Day by improving the quality of Wikipedia articles about women and non-binary people in STEM. Ada Lovelace was an English mathematician in the 19th century who is widely considered to be the first computer programmer. The gender imbalance in Wikipedia is well-documented (source), and we invite your participation to help correct these oversights through this edit-a-thon. Librarians Carrie Pirmann and Nora Boyle will lead the session and provide instruction in Wikipedia editing, as well as research support for the event.

No prior experience editing Wikipedia is necessary! Please bring your laptop; snacks will be provided.
