The Mothers of Gynecology and the Creation of Modern American Gynecology

Dr. Deirdre Cooper Owens, who is an associate professor at the University of Connecticut, as well as an American historian and reproductive rights activist known for her 2017 book Medical Bondage: Race, Gender, and the Origins of American Gynecology, will address our theme on Youth from African and the Diasporas: Knowers, Innovators, Visionaries, and Everyday people in her talk titled
The Mothers of Gynecology and the Creation of Modern American Gynecology. Cooper-Owens uses a great deal ofdata from real world contexts in the historical and present-day contexts. Her talk will take place at 4:30pm on Wednesday, March 18. Co-Sponsored by the Dominguez Center for Data Science.
