Spring 2025 Data Science at Bucknell

A hexagon design that says, "data: Dominguez Center for Data Science"

Data science is thriving across Bucknell’s campus.  This is the first in a series of notes highlighting data science activities happening across campus.

This note focuses on some of the spring 2025 initiatives from the Dominguez Center for Data Science (DCDS):

  • Experiential Learning: We hired 29 student fellows and 4 senior student fellows to work on 13 collaborative, data science projects.  These projects support a wide range of departments across the campus and provide the students with valuable real-world experience working with data and communicating their findings.
  • Educational Opportunities: DCDS is offering several data science workshops for faculty, staff and students.  Topics range from engaging with new tools such as Python, Excel, BisonNet, Qualtrics, Google Forms, and R, to learning new methods such as data visualization, survey design, and neural networks.
  • Support Services: Bucknell community members can sign up for one-on-one data science consulting sessions, and students can receive help from our coding support tutors.
  • Community Building: DCDS tries to bring together people with different data science interests and is currently supports a data literacy community of practice and the R Users Group at Bucknell (rugB).
